Prevention of FIP

importantPREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE.

FIP is such a complex disease and if after decades of being researched its pathogenesis is not completely understood. How can we hope for a cure?

In many other diseases, the destruction of the invading pathogen by antivirals or antibiotics, results in a cure, but FIP is a disease involving the very complex immune response of the cat and FIP isn’t a fixed target, it changes – the pathology changes throughout the infection. In addition, FIP presents slightly different in every cat, so treatment needs to be tailored to that individual cat. Without no doubt: it is not a case of one size fits all!  Therefore, prevention of FCoV infection is preferable to an attempt to cure.  And prevention can be achieved by hygiene and education.
